The nation's top law enforcement official, Pam Bondi, confirmed the prosecutor's departure on the start of the week. In a statement that the judicial decision made it unworkable for the official to lead the department effectively.
"Let no one confuse compliance for surrender," she wrote. "My fight will now stretch across America."

Her resignation follows closely on a judicial panel ruled that she had been unlawfully serving as the top prosecutor. This ruling is expected to impact many prosecutions in the Garden State.
