This January transfer window proves to be a time of intense speculation and possible big-money moves. A number of prominent players find themselves linked with transfers out of their present clubs. We examine some of the key names that are poised to be on the move this month.

Antoine Semenyo

Although the Black Stars' failure to qualify for the AFCON, this has kept the player in contention, it appears a major move is close. The 25-year-old has a deal featuring a substantial release clause active for a brief period at the start of the month. Latest reports suggest Manchester City are now the frontrunners for his services. Former interested parties such as Chelsea and Tottenham reportedly have turned their attention to other targets, leaving clubs such as Liverpool or Manchester United to attempt a last-minute move.

M. Guéhi

This England defender has continued to excel for Crystal Palace despite a previous transfer to Liverpool collapsing. With his contract due to run out in the summer, January is the London club's last chance to obtain a fee for their skipper. A host of elite sides, including City and multiple European giants like Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, and Barcelona, are believed to be interested. However, a January departure remains difficult, especially given the coach's dependence on the player.

B. Johnson

The Wales forward has had first-team minutes hard to come by at Spurs this term. Although being the side's top scorer last season, Johnson has started just a handful of Premier League matches. It is understood the North London club would be willing to consider a transfer for the right price, thought to be in the around forty million pounds. The Cherries are currently at the front of the queue, with Crystal Palace, Aston Villa, and Brentford also showing an interest.

R. Neves

This Portugal midfielder might be set for a return to the English top flight following a spell in Saudi Arabia. Now just 28, and with his agreement ending in the summer of 2026, he represents a possible opportunity. Clubs such as Manchester United and Liverpool have been linked with the player. Furthermore, there are suggestions from Spanish media that he is prepared to accept a reduced salary for a move to Real Madrid.

Marc-André ter Stegen

This experienced Germany goalkeeper finds himself as third-choice at Barcelona following new manager Hansi Flick. After fallen out of favour and undergone surgery, a January departure seems highly likely. Aston Villa were once mentioned as a possible suitor, but that move currently seems off. Instead, interest from Saudi Arabia and Turkey are thought to be showing curiosity in the keeper.

Ivan Toney

This prolific English striker has continued scoring regularly in Saudi Arabia. Coming back to the Premier League might boost his fading chances of being in the England squad. However, securing a deal presents significant challenges. His current club do not wish to part with him, and his reported huge salary make any move complicated. Everton, Tottenham, and Manchester United have all been mentioned as admirers.

Conor Gallagher

This dynamic English midfielder drew considerable attention in the off-season but stayed at Atlético Madrid. Harvey Elliott

Kenan Yildiz

The highly-rated Turkish forward has been in excellent form for Juventus this season. As his existing deal running down, a host of English sides – including Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, and Tottenham – are monitoring the situation. Juventus are eager to secure the 20-year-old to a new long-term agreement but are in a battle to retain one of Europe's brightest young talents.

K. Smit

This highly-touted Dutch teenage midfielder has drawn parallels to a Belgian superstar for his style of play. Following starring at the U19 Euros, Smit has broken into the AZ side. The 19-year-old is heavily tipped to make a big-money transfer in January. Newcastle United reportedly are frontrunners, but could face stiff rivalry from the Spanish champions for a signing valued at around £22 million.
