President Trump Welcomes Relatives of Attacked Military Members to the Presidential Residence
Former President Donald Trump revealed on the weekend that he has extended an invitation the family of a Guard member killed last week to attend the executive mansion.
He added that he spoke to her parents and they were “heartbroken”.
Details on the Tragic Shooting
Soldier Beckstrom, twenty years old, was fatally shot in a violent incident on last Wednesday in DC.
Her comrade, Staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, continues receiving treatment in serious condition.
Memorials across the state have taken place in their honor.
White House Invitation
The commander-in-chief said he’s proposed a White House visit for the loved ones of both soldiers of the state National Guard.
“I stated: ‘When you’re ready, because that’s a tough thing, visit the White House. We’re going to recognize Sarah,” Trump informed journalists. “And in the same way with him, recover or not.”
Public Response
Mourners assembled over the past few days at the high school in West Virginia to pay respects to Sarah.
Both she and Wolfe had been fulfilling duties with the state guard as part of Trump’s government program to support law enforcement in DC.
Paying Tribute to the Soldier
“Sarah was the individual that teachers wished for. She conducted herself with calm resilience, a warm expression and a upbeat demeanor that encouraged people around her,” Jarrod Hankins, the principal of Beckstrom’s former high school, told the media. “She was kind, caring and always willing to help others.”
Service details for Beckstrom are yet to be finalized.
Legal Measures and Government Revisions
Officials have charged a 29-year-old individual from Afghanistan with one count of homicide and two counts of assault with intent to kill while carrying a weapon.
The tragedy led the Trump administration to pause asylum processing and temporarily stop granting visas to holders of passports from Afghanistan.
Condition of Andrew Wolfe
Wolfe, a native of Martinsburg, began his service in early 2019 and is a graduate of Musselman high school, per the AP.
He continues to receive treatment and is “fighting for his life”, the state’s leader Morrisey stated on television.
Attorney general Pam Bondi informed a news show that she also intended to speak to Wolfe’s family.
Legacy of the Fallen Soldier
Beckstrom, from Summersville, completed her education from her high school in 2023 and began her service not long after, serving as a law enforcement officer with excellence, according to the West Virginia National Guard.
“She had a lot of goodness and she definitely had fortitude,” the governor informed the audience at the vigil. “Though her life was cut short, she has created a legacy that’s going to endure.”
