Toy Story 5 Teaser Sets Woody and Buzz Against a Tablet Computer
It has been 30 years since the original Toy Story movie was released, launching Pixar as a major film company and introducing viewers to iconic figures like Woody (Tom Hanks) and the space ranger (Tim Allen), who are now famous worldwide.
In 2026, the fifth installment is set to arrive. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 landed recently, offering a glimpse into the plot but leaving viewers wondering how it will resolve the conclusion of Toy Story 4.
Bonnie's New Toy: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Frightens the Gang
The preview shows the young girl — who inherited the toy collection when he left for college — receiving a latest plaything, one that alarms Woody, Buzz, and the crew. She gets her first tablet computer, and she is thrilled about it.
Presumably, the amphibian-inspired device will come to life just like the rest of her playthings. Still, the toys appear to consider it as a danger intending to supplant them, which it likely will.
The Cowboy's Comeback: Mysteries from Toy Story 4
An element the teaser doesn't touch on is what Woody is returned with his companions in the child's bedroom. The end of Toy Story 4 depicted him set off on a fresh journey with Bo Peep (the actress), traveling with a fair and assisting giveaway items locate loving owners.
Surely, Pixar will explain the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Witnessing him show up in Bonnie's room unexpectedly is a little strange, though. It also raises questions whether his partner will have returned with him. And where is the stuntman toy (the star)?
Connections from the Last Installment
Fortunately, some aspects are continuing from the prior film. The last thing Woody did before setting off for his new life was pass his sheriff badge to Jessie (the voice actor), entrusting her as the leader of Bonnie's bedroom. The clip shows the insignia attached to her shirt.
It is hoped she is still the driving force among the group.
