Cyclone Melissa is projected to strengthen into a rare highest-level cyclone as it shifts in the direction of the Caribbean island, causing dangerous flash flooding and landslides.

The cyclone, which recorded winds of up to 195 km/h as of 0600 Greenwich Mean Time, is currently turning north-west in the Caribbean region and is anticipated to reach land by midweek, as reported by weather experts.

Advisories of blackouts and structural damage have been released as the hurricane generates up to thirty inches of precipitation and sea level surges as high as 4m above typical tides. "Take cover without delay," inhabitants have been urged.

This hurricane is the 13th hurricane in the ongoing Atlantic season, which normally finishes in November.

Highest-Level Storm Danger
