Ukrainian authorities have declared the start of mass production for an innovative domestically developed defensive UAV to strengthen its air defences. Three initial producers have begun production, with an additional eleven getting ready to establish assembly lines, Ukrainian military officials stated this past Friday.

Advanced 'Octopus' System Tested in Battlefield Conditions

The drones will be based on a domestically developed technology called “Octopus” designed to intercept Iranian-made drones. This technology underwent testing in combat and demonstrated successful “during nighttime, under jamming and flying low,” officials stated. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy established an ambitious goal of producing as many as 1,000 interceptors daily.

Recent Attack on the Capital Characterized as Deliberate

Volodymyr Zelenskyy characterized Moscow's most recent assault against Ukraine as “deliberate, calculated and wicked” following six people were killed and dozens injured in a series of nocturnal attacks across Kyiv. Air raid sirens activated in Kyiv shortly after 12 AM on Friday, with Shahed drones quickly heard overhead and intensive defensive fire from Ukrainian air defences.

The president reported the country was hit by hundreds of UAVs and 18 missiles. Those killed were inside their residences in an apartment building on the capital's left bank during the strike. Dozens of other buildings were damaged, including the diplomatic mission of Azerbaijan.

International Protest Following Diplomatic Compound Damage

The Azerbaijani government said it delivered a strong protest to the Russian ambassador this past Friday following the destruction at its diplomatic compound. An explosion from a Russian Iskander missile demolished a section of the compound's boundary wall and caused significant destruction to the diplomatic compound, officials from Baku reported. No one injured, and a ministry spokesperson confirmed the diplomatic mission in Ukraine was maintaining operations.

Russian Aerial Bomb Manufacturing Experiences Significant Increase

Russia intends to manufacture as many as 120,000 guided aerial bombs in the current year, a high-ranking Ukrainian defense official disclosed, including 500 of a new, longer-range version that is capable of targeting additional urban centers. Russian forces have been launching hundreds of aerial bombs per day, with the previous month's average daily usage standing at about 170, according to defence ministry data.

Ukrainian Attacks Target Moscow's Energy Infrastructure

Russia’s Black Sea port of the port city halted for a period crude shipments this past Friday – equivalent to 2% of worldwide oil production – following a strike by Ukrainian forces. Ukraine’s general staff said its forces had launched Neptune cruise missiles and used various types of strike drones in the attack on Novorossiysk “within the framework of operations to diminish the military and economic potential of the invading force.”

Ukraine separately struck a processing plant in the Saratov area and a fuel storage facility in nearby Engels overnight.

Global Restrictions Affect Russian Energy Company

Russia’s second-largest energy company Lukoil announced this past Friday it is negotiating with potential buyers concerning its international holdings following recent restrictions from Western nations and the collapse of an agreement with the Gunvor trading house. “Final arrangements will be announced after conclusive negotiations have been reached and the necessary regulatory approvals have been obtained,” Lukoil stated.

Zelenskyy Schedules Visit to Spanish Capital

The Ukrainian leader is scheduled to travel to the Spanish capital, the Spanish capital, on Tuesday to confer with parliament members following his visit to Paris, the chamber of deputies disclosed. The Ukrainian president will convene with representatives from both chambers of the legislature during his visit, an official announcement said.
